Cadore Lakes

Dominated by the famous mountains of the Dolomites, Cadore is a land dotted with picturesque lakes, set among woods, meadows and small villages that offer further charm to the mountain scenery.

Natural wonders of the last Ice Age, the lakes of Cadore are quiet and relaxing places in which the profiles of the imposing peaks that dominate them are reflected. The most famous on a tourist level are the Lake of Misurina - also known as the "pearl of Cadore", it is the biggest natural basin of the area - the Lake of Calalzo and the Lake of Auronzo.

Many trails start from the banks and hikers can enjoy breathtaking scenery like the routes high in the Dolomites like the Three Peaks, Sorapiss and Antelao that have a privileged view. 

Those looking for cultural activities the historical center of Auronzo hosts the Archaeological and Natural Multi-thematic Museum, while the Archaeological Museum and the birthplace of Tiziano can be found at Pieve di Cadore.

The transparency of the lakes and windy climate facilitate water activities such as power boating, canoeing and fishing. In winter the frozen waters of the Lake of Misurina become equipped skating rinks that can also be used to play exclusive matches of polo.
